Full Tilt experimented with a different format for the most recent installment of its popular online poker series. FTOPS XII featured lower buy-in events in an effort to give more players the chance to participate in large field tournaments. The mini-FTOPS events coincided with regular FTOPS tournaments but could be entered for only a tenth of the buy-in. Unfortunately for Full Tilt, this probably contributed to the missed prize pool guarantees that occurred in many of the regular buy-in FTOPS events. Full Tilt had to make up the difference for 15 of the 25 FTOPS tournaments. The biggest overlay was more than $210k in the FTOPS main event hosted by Jennifer Harman (http://www.poker-king.com/poker-king-articles.php?article=635). The mini-FTOPS tournaments were immensely popular and blew almost all of their guarantees out of the water.
